Leitner Wireless Headset Has Static/Buzzing/Distortion

Your Leitner wireless headset should sound great whenever you use it! If it isn't sounding its best, here are some tips you can try!

Leitner Wireless Sound Quality Troubleshooting

If it is a new headset, ensure the headset has charged for 4 hours. If not, let it charge and, if it still isn't working properly, try these steps.

  1. Check compatibility and make sure headset is compatible (one can be found on our website here, under the "Available on Amazon" button or you can call us for a more complete list at 1-800-HEADSETS)
  2. Move mic boom up and down to see if it is a possible mic short
  3. Move compatibility switch a little bit, then move it back to its original spot to get out of "compat limbo." For most phones, it should be set to 1
  4. Move cords in the back of the base to see if one of them is causing the static. Try unplugging these cords for 5 seconds and then plugging them back in
  5. Move the base away from other electronics to help with any possible interference
  6. Check the connections in the back of the headset base and the settings on the bottom of your headset base. For most phones, the left switch should be set to RHL, and the right switch up at 1. Cisco phones will be on 4 when going through headset port in phone. To double-check your connections, view the Leitner Wireless Headset Setup Article
  7. Try a Leitner Wireless Reset

  8. Fine-tune the volume on the headset, base & phone
    1. Typically turning down the phone volume and turning the headset volume up will have the best sound. If that doesn't work, turning up the phone volume and decreasing the headset volume often does the trick. We'd be happy to help with this on a live call to 1-800-HEADSETS (432-3738)
  9. Pair a different headset to the base (if available)

Hello, I just purchased a Leitner headset for my work desk and it is really muffled. I have tried adjusting the volume on the headset and the phone. Wondering if there is something I am not trying? Thank you!

Hello – I recently purchased a Leitner LH270 headset for work but when I go to call anyone, there’s a high pitch sound (like the old dial up internet or fax machine) coming through. How do I fix this?

The high pitched noise you’re hearing most likely means the compatibility switch on the bottom of your headset base is set to the wrong number.

For most telephones, you’ll want it set to #1. For Cisco telephones try #4. If it’s any other number, then the high pitched sound you’re hearing can occur.

Hello, I got a Leitner headset yesterday and have been using it all morning,
I have some static noise on the line with or without a call.
How do I get that to go away?
