Windows 11 Microphone Privacy Settings

If you can hear others, but no one can hear you on your headset, we may need to adjust the Windows Mic Privacy settings.

Navigating to the Privacy Settings

There are two different microphone privacy settings we will need to check. One goes through the sound settings menu, and the other will be through the general Windows settings.

Through the Sound Settings screen

1. Right-click on the speaker in the bottom right corner of your screen and select "sound settings"
2. In the "Input" section, click on the arrow to the right of the microphone you want to use
3. Under General, there's a box that says "Allow" or "Don't allow." If it says "don't allow," your microphone is currently available. If it says "allow," it means your microphone is not available. Click to change to the setting you want.

   

Through Windows 11 settings menu

1. Type "microphone" into the search bar in the bottom middle part of your screen
2. Select Microphone privacy settings

   

3. Ensure "Let apps access your microphone" is turned on. You can also choose which apps you want to give microphone access to

   

4. Scroll down until you see "Let desktop apps access your microphone" and ensure that is turned on

   

You should be good to go after these are privacy settings are properly set!
