Windows 11 Speaker Privacy Settings

Updated by Kamika Royal on Aug 16, 2024

Use this article if you can't hear others, but they can hear you on your headset. When this happens, we may just need to adjust the privacy settings.

If you can hear others, but they can't hear you, check out our Windows 11 Microphone Privacy Settings article.

If you need to set your headset as the default device for your computer sounds, check out our Windows 11 Audio Settings article.

Checking Speaker Privacy Settings

  1. Right-click on the speaker in the bottom right corner of your screen and select Sound settings
  2. Scroll to Output and click the arrow next to the speaker you want to use
    Headset speaker privacy settings menu
  3. Under General, there's a box that says "Allow" or "Don't allow." If it says "don't allow," your speaker is currently available. If it says "allow," it means your speaker is not available. Click to change to the setting you want.
