Shoretel Headset Set-Up for Remote Answering (with and without EHS cable)

Here's how to get your wireless headset set up with a Shoretel IP phone!

Plugging In Your Headset

1. First, plug the RJ side of your connector cable OR EHS cable directly into the Shoretel telephone headset jack.
2. Then, if you have an EHS cable, make sure your headset base is set up for it. For example, a Sennheiser OfficeRunner will have all 6 dipswitches in the up position and be set to A. Leitner headsets will use 1 and RHL.
3. Now let's pop into your Shoretel phone settings.

Shoretel Phone Settings

1. Hit Options followed by your voicemail password.
   Note: Shoretel phones often don’t let you get into the Options section while you’re on the same phone.
2. Auto Off-Hook should be set to Headset

1. Headset Type should be Wireless
   Note: Some phones will not have a Headset Type option. Instead, you'll see “headset, speaker, or wireless headset” in the auto off-hook section. We'll want to select Wireless Headset
2. Scroll down to, Handsfree Mode should be set to Enabled

1. If you aren’t using an EHS cable, you’re done!
2. If you do have an EHS cable, head over to the Ringtone Settings (shown in the photo above) and set it to 2. Make sure Audible Ringer is turned on
3. Now save these SETTINGS and that’s it! Calls can now be answered by pressing the button on the headset and, if you have an EHS cable, you'll get a ring alert in your headset when there is an incoming call!
