Sennheiser Amplifier Setup

You can set this Sennheiser Amp through your phone's headset port, handset port, or even into the computer if you have the right accessories! Let's dive in and get you on the phone.

Handset Jack Setup:

1. Remove the CURLY CORD from the telephone base and plug it into the HANDSET JACK on the front of the amp. This is the jack on the right side and has a picture of a HANDSET
2. Plug one side of the CONNECTOR CORD provided with the amp into the jack on the back left side of the amp that has the picture of the whole telephone. Plug the other side of this cord into the HANDSET JACK of the telephone base
3. Connect the Sennheiser headset of your choice to the jack with the provided quick disconnect cord to RJ9 connection to the HEADSET JACK on the front side of the amp. This is the jack on the left side that has a picture of a headset
4. Set compat to A (most phones take A)
5. ◘/▲ = ◘ (Triangle is European volume setting, Square is the American setting)
6. Set mic (1-9 dial underneath the base) to about 5 or 5
7. Insert included C-battery into battery compartment

How to use the headset:

• Take handset off of the cradle
• Make sure the phone icon on the amp is not pressed down (if it is, that means the audio will travel through the handset receiver)
• Make sure no other buttons on the amp are pressed down

Headset Jack Setup:

1. Plug one side of the CONNECTOR CORD provided with the amp into the HEADSET JACK of the telephone. Plug the other side of this cord into the jack on the back left side of the amp that has the picture of the whole telephone
2. Connect the Sennheiser headset of your choice to the HEADSET JACK on the front side of the amp using the quick disconnect cord provided. This is the jack on the left side that has a picture of a HEADSET
3. DO NOT unplug the CURLY CORD from the base of the telephone
4. Set compat to A (most phones take A)
5. ◘/▲ = ◘ (Triangle is European volume setting, Square is the American setting)
6. Set mic (1-9 dial underneath the base) to about 5 or 5
7. Insert included C-battery into battery compartment

How to use headset:

• Press headset button on the phone
• Make sure the phone icon on the amp is not pressed down (if it is, that means the audio will travel through the handset receiver)
• Make sure no other buttons on the amp are pressed down

Computer Setup:

You will need Sennheiser Sennheiser RJ9 to USB cord

1. Plug the RJ9 side of the USB cord into the COMPUTER JACK. This is the jack on the back right side of the amp. Then, connect the USB plug into an available USB port on the computer
2. Connect the HEADSET to the HEADSET JACK on the front side of the amp. This is the jack on the left side that has a picture of a HEADSET
3. Make the headset/amp the default device in the computer’s sound settings-- both in the Playback and Recording tabs. If this does not automatically route sound to the headset, disable all other sound devices in both the Playback and Recording tabs

How to use headset:

• Press down on the COMPUTER button on the top of the amp. All sound will be routed through the computer now!

You can even listen to music from an MP3 player or use an old-school Dictaphone device with this amp! Whaaaat?! You will need an extra cord for this use, too, the male 3.5mm to male 3.5mm cord. This can be special ordered! It’s Sennheiser part # 502391

MP3 PLAYER or DICTAPHONE:

For this setup, you will need a double-sided 3.5MM male cord! We do not sell this, but it can be special ordered! Sennheiser part # 502391

1. Plug the dictaphone or MP3 player into the 3.5 mm port on the front of the amp (this is the round port in the middle)
2. Connect the HEADSET to the HEADSET JACK on the front side of the amp. This is the jack on the left side that has a picture of a HEADSET

How to use:

• TO USE: Press down on the MUSIC NOTE button on the top of the amp. All sound will be routed through the 3.5mm jack now

FUN FACT: You can LISTEN to sound from a cell phone through this set-up, but not SPEAK. So, you could use this setting to listen to, say, Pandora music or an Audiobook from an iPhone, but not to have a 2-way conversation!
